7 Ideas for Cheer Camp Team Bonding

CHEER CAMP TEAM BONDING

Cheer Camp Team Bonding

Cheer Camp is a great opportunity for your cheerleading team to bond. This close bond serves your cheerleading team all season long. Cheer camp typically takes place during the summer which is early in the cheerleading season.

Capitalize on that positive energy at the beginning of a new cheer season by including cheer camp team bonding! Cheer Camp is long and tiring so planning cheer camp team bonding helps fill the day with moments of joy among the stress.

Give yourself grace, camp is BUSY. If you don’t have a ton of time for bonding, try adding just ONE bonding activity that is low prep, but creates unity.

Check out my post where I talk about my team’s favorite bonding activity. We do this at camp every year, but it can really be done at any time. Click here to check it out.

Cheer Camp Team Bonding Ideas

Cheer Practice Dress Up Days Before Cheer Camp

During the practices leading up to cheer camp, plan ‘spirit days’ for your team to dress up! This is a fun way to get your cheerleaders excited for camp.

Ask your cheerleaders to help come up with the dress up themes for practice!

Cheer Camp Door Decoration

Make sure your cheer camp location allows this. Cheerleaders can collaborate with their cheer camp roommate to make a door decoration. Cheer camps sometimes have a theme so you can have them decorate according to that theme.

What you need:

  • Paper
  • Markers
  • Painters tape (to not leave damage)
  • Craft supplies

Add more excitement by making the door decoration a competition. The best door wins!

Make Cheer Camp Staff Appreciation Gifts

Creating a Thank You Gift for the cheer camp staff members. This can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like! This activity encourages your cheer team to practice gratitude for the camp staff. They work hard at these camps and this can show how much your team appreciates all they do!

What you need:

  • Whatever you would like!
  • Decorated cookies
  • Sports drinks
  • Snacks
  • School merchandise

Print post cards with the cheer team photo. Have each of the cheerleaders sign the card. Give to give to cheer camp staff as a Thank You!

Decorate Good Luck Clothespins

This past cheer camp, we saw teams that were pinning cheerleaders from other cheer teams with decorated clothespins. These clothespins had encouraging sayings and cute decorations. This is popular in the all-star cheer world!

What you need:

  • Clothespins
  • Markers
  • Paint
  • Charms
  • Beads
  • Glue

Decorate clothespins as a bonding activity during practice before cheer camp!

Cheer Team Mascot Award

We have a stuffed animal mascot. Our mascot is a mustang, and the team named her Molly Mustang. The cheerleader who last received Molly Mustang chooses a teammate who positively stood out. They explain why they are choosing this person. This person gets to keep Molly Mustang until the next day of camp when they will choose another teammate. They also choose someone new after each football game throughout the season.

What you need:

  • Stuffed animal mascot

You can order a stuffed animal mascot on Amazon!

Snack Share

A fun way to provide your cheer team with some extra fuel is to have a snack share. Have each cheerleader bring a box of their favorite snack to share. I recommend pre-packaged store bought snacks. The cheerleaders hand out their snack to their teammates!

What you need:

  • Paper grocery bags
  • Pre-packaged, store bought snacks

Bring paper grocery bags for the cheerleaders to store all of their snacks!

Morning Message From Cheer Teammates

The purpose of this activity is for each cheerleader to receive a positive message from a teammate every morning of camp. This also encourages cheerleaders to write a positive note about their teammate.

Pre-write cheerleaders names on a blank note card. (You can ask your cheer captains to help you prep this activity.) Then put the note cards in a bag. Each cheerleader pulls out a card. Then that cheerleader writes a positive note to the person the drew from the bag.

Collect the cards and read them over. Then after you do door checks to ensure they are all in their room, slide the positive note card under their door. So, when they wake up in the morning they are greeted by a positive message from their teammate!

What you need:

  • Blank notecards
  • Markers
  • Bag

This activity is low prep but your cheerleaders will love it!
